Create Your Budget

Create Your Budget

wedding-budgetThere are many websites you can go to that will help you to create your wedding budget and all these sites have what they believe is the best way for you to create it. There is probably no single best way to do it but here is a list of things you should consider when you create your budget. It is by no means exhaustive however it will give you a good starting point and I suggest you do your research. My experience is that most couples go in with a starting plan of what they want to spend without realizing all the factors that affect their budget. Most of these factors can be controlled as long as you have a good plan.

  • Number of guests – your guest count will be the single largest contributing factor in your wedding expenses
  • Food & Beverage expense – proportional to your guest count
  • Time of Day – lunch or dinner
  • Style of Wedding – casual, semi-formal or formal
  • Time of year – rental fees vary based on the time of year
  • Venue – does your venue include all the basics or do you have to bring them in yourself via a rental company? This would include chairs, tables, china, glassware, silverware, linens and service staff. There is much more that may be required depending on various factors
  • Vendors – may include a florist, photographer, videographer, stationary, music, cake and rental equipment as necessary
  • Wedding attire – wedding gown and tuxedo
  • Is your honeymoon included in your budget
  • Are your rings included in your budget
  • Is anyone financially contributing to your wedding
